River Walk (often misspelled Riverwalk) is in Five Forks near Mauldin and Simpsonville, South Carolina. The 440 property subdivision is comprised of mostly two-story brick houses with side or rear garages. River Walk was founded in 1987. River Walk has a 4-mile long leisure trail winding through the neighborhood parts of which run parallel to Gilder Creek, hence the name River Walk. River Walk Trail is reserved for River Walk residents.
Other amenities include tennis courts, a clubhouse, a pool, and adjacent children’s pool. River Walk has a swim team, the Shockwaves.
There are three access points to River Walk, one on Adams Mill Road, another on Five Forks Road near the intersection with Highway 14 and another at the end of Roberts Road.
The Homeowner’s Association is incorporated as River Walk Recreation Inc, a South Carolina non-profit corporation.
Five Forks is a CDP (Census Designated Place), and as such is unincorporated, so there are no municipal taxes. It is governed by Greenville County and residents pay only Greenville County taxes and state taxes. The area including Five Forks, Mauldin, Simpsonville and Fountain Inn is known as The Golden Strip.
Property use is subject to restrictions as detailed in the River Walk Restrictive and Protective Covenants on file with Greenville County as are the bylaws and rules which can change frequently. Each property is subject to an assessment set by the board of directors each year and due May 1st. River Walk also has rules, which govern the use of corporate property, which is property owned by River Walk Recreation Association, Inc.
River Walk children are eligible to attend these public schools: Monarch Elementary, Mauldin Middle School and Mauldin High School.
